Direct connect not working for one specific person#697

less of a suggestion and more of a question/bug report. My friends and I recently picked up melee again and direct connect has worked with every single person I play with except one friend, every time them and I try to play the match will connect and the second we are in the stage the game entirely freezes, like, less than one frame per second. after about 20 seconds of this we get disconnected. if there is any insight as to how it can be fixed I would love to know, cheers.
