Implement a way of communicating between players.

I think this would be better suited to the web site, but I would like to see this combined with the friends list suggestion, i.e. have some way to chat with accounts on your friend list on slippi.gg

I would not love this for playing with randos…

Maybe have emotes but best part rn imo is just being able to play people and not have to worry about a chat

i would prefer if there were preset messages that could be sent, stuff like “last one”, “GG’s”, etc.

I like how r18 works with Chat. Full text communication! I love it! Kinda wish there were an option to keep the messages on screen longer. I’ve missed a few important ones. Partially from messages only being on screen for a short time and partially because the text size is too small for me sometimes with my bad eyesight. So with Slippi r18 and Slippi 2 (If we get in game chat) and would love for there to be a way to make it bigger or smaller to the user’s preference.

I’m really enjoying not getting bullied in chat like in anther’s. Still get BM players but at least they can’t be too much of a dick. Maximum have preset comms imo.

Mabye they could make a settings tab where they disable chat?

I was playing this one person on rollback and they switched to a new character but I wanted to play the first character. All I could do to communicate this was to immediately SD and quit out to show I wanted to play a different character, and even then he switched to a new character but not back to the first character. It would be very nice to have some way to say “Requesting your [Pick Character]” message, and the other player could perhaps respond with “Sure” or “No thanks” or similar.

Free, uncensored text chat like literally any PC game would be infinitely superior to anything that uses pre-written text strings.

The majority of players will have a keyboard in front of them while playing and the gamecube does have its own keyboard controller which means it is asbolutely possible to add custom key bindings for such a thing.

For streamers, add a “censor list” that can be added to/edited freely so they can keep their recordings broadcast-friendly.

would be great if you could create a friendlist somehow, so that you can invite a rando player you enjoy playing with to your friendlist.

I think chat can be very horrifying indeed. Toxic, easily.
But it can also be a great way to make real friends in acctual life. And it can be of great help to understand your errors in play.
I’ve often played very long sessions with an other person for the simple reason, they also have a french tag, and I feel they are also in quebec. It would be great to chat in some language that I want to learn… so many great thing can come of it too, and I definitely feel it outweighs the toxicity. I am perfectly capable of pressing Z on someone and moving on with life.Perhaps some form of peer to peer review that is done automaticly. People who get downrated socialy play people whom got downrated socialy… so on and so forth. And the opinion must be disregarded if the dude is just pissed he got wobbled or chaingrabbed or…. lol. So the socil rating has to be less severe if the player lost and is pissed. It also has to be less severe if it is being spammed. Perhaps even uprating when people are nice lol. Games that make you meet people are the best.
